Lots of expletives!
After looking at the routing of the clutch cable and realising I couldn't even get my hand into where the cable goes through the bulkhead, I reverted to plan B.
Plan B being .... leave it to someone else who gets paid to do it
So I struggled and struggled to get the new plastic clip/spring to locate over the nipple of the old clutch cable. Finally did it. Didn't bother with getting the pedal return spring on or the nut for the bolt.
At least now the car is driveable ...... now to find an unsuspecting mechanic
