Is this smell bomb any good?

Unread post by Napoleon »

Bit pricy, but if it works, I'd try it:

You are better cleaning the upholstery and removing the source of the odour, than hoping a new smell will stick on top of it.

Same effect as the odour bomb! It mightn't stick!

I found that carrying half a ton of eucalyptus logs in the back of the XM cured the doggy smell :-D

Risk with flatulence as a re-odorant, is the follow-through.

Tim, how much a handyperson do you fancy yourself? How is "Josephine" on the laundry front? I have successfully rehabilitated seats by skinning them of their covers - which were then double washed and lightly repaired - while the foams were sponged, treated with repeat poultices of bicarb and eventually hoovered clean. The real skill required is a little strength and deftness getting the covers off, and then some squeeze strength with the hog ring pliers to reinstall.

:-D

We went out in the car yesterday and to be honest, no-one really complained, so maybe I've made too much of it. Not worth removing the covers, for sure. The other Xantia has a neutral kind of smell, so it does notice a bit in the estate.

I expect I'll sort of get used to it.

Odour bombs typically have a 3 week longevity on the car and then your back to the old smells!
Most the smells are in the carpet from wet then dry wet then dry etc., b & q used to do a Decent carpet cleaning soloution for under a tenner for 5l and very dilutable, mixed in with some all purpose cleaner in a hot bucket of water and a scrubbing brush you can have nice clean smelling carpets in about half an hour,

Put some newspaper on top of where the spill/smell is coming from and then put some charcoal on the newspaper overnight. Lo and behold in the morning the charcoal will have absorbed the smell. (don't ask me how it works but it does)

Bleach works a treat!

Refreshes the design of your interior too.

Make sure you swirl it around when you're squeezing it out to give a nice swrily pattern though.
