Where to buy C5 spheres

Unread post by martinwiseman2000 »

Hi,

I need 2 front spheres for my 57 reg C5 HDi 2.0. For the last 25 years I've bought all my Citroen spares from GSF, however I've just been told they don't stock these.

Any suggestions as to where I should go other than a Citroen dealer?

Thanks,
Martin Wiseman

You could try Wida Components, usually much better to ring them as not everything they can get hold of is on there. Or AEP Parts.

I would not be buying used sphres, they dont last forever and those ones will be getting down on gas now.

Just out of interest, how do you know you need new spheres? Did you get them pressure tested?
Only asking as my suspension isn't exactly right at the moment...

You can pressure test them, or if you know what a good one should feel like its easy to compare if yours is more bouncy.

If this central Scotland meet happens then hopefully somebody can tell me if my spheres are ok.
For the year that I've owned the car the rear has sat lower than the front. Once in a while it will sit fine but it's mostly off.
Drive doesn't feel that smooth and for the majority of the time I get vibration through the steering wheel at speed.
Though the driver's side rear arm bearings need done...

I'm going on the feel, I'm definitely noticing bumps in the road more than I should and the car doesn't go down as far as I would expect when I push on the bumper, both of which are usually a sign that the spheres are on their way out. I know the C5 spheres are supposed to last longer than the type used on previous models, however the car has done 90,000 miles so it doesn't seem unreasonable to suspect them.

Thanks for the suggestions, Wida couldn't help, however AEP had them in stock.

I have changed a few C5 spheres, starting to get a few failed ones, usually one side fails.

The rear arm bearings definitely make a big difference. I had one done last year and the other done this week and there was a marked improvement in ride on both occasions.
