I wouldn't worry about the radio and stalk, but would be on the look out for a nice set of leathers or velour trim if you are planning on this car getting any where near the same mileage as your white car.

Then again, alcantara isn't that dear on e-bay!

Be thankful its non hydractive. The best kind!

The fake suede wears on the driver's outside bolster so I'd imagine someone's fitted a passenger seat instead.

You know, you might be right, I wonder if the seat has been swapped since the original sale pictures. As it certainly looked like your car, its red and the view from the windows matched identically with where the car was parked on the exterior pictures. Even the carpet mats are the same, but the lumbar adjuster knob isnt there. The brochure confirms SX (slightly earlier brochure from 09/96) should have lumbar adjust.

Could well be a passenger seat like Xac suggests.

Two run out S1 Xantia models, how do you find them

Good news on RUNNs MOT, I agree, it still has many years and miles left to give. Xantias will probably outlive many modern cars

Now you mention VSX seats, if you can find a set of early S1 VSX seats id grab them. One of my favourite cloth interiors is an early Xantia VSX, that tartan fabric is excellent, the green carpets and parcel tray are just something else 8-)

I think VSX also has a passenger airbag and it does have a leather steering wheel, so your not too far off VSX spec with that Desire 2 8-)

If you want height adjustment you should be able to just remove the runners from a proper driver's seat and swap them over.

Congrats Kev, its scary how few series 1 Xantias there are around nowadays...

I like the seats you have in at the mo but a black leather interior would finish it a treat. Agreed on the non hydractive suspension....it comes in handy sometimes, but electrovalves.....who wants them :P

I used the wrong tense there, stalk and radio are already fitted, had them in stock.

The plan was to bring the new one up but things haven't quite gone to plan in that respect. It will be nice to have potentially one last long journey in RUNN before she goes.

That's a thought on those seats, never clocked that. I'll check the current passenger and see if its actually the driver.

You will soon have a fleet!
Is it worth getting rid of runn?
I mean it will probably be worth more to you than actual value with current values.
And it would be a damn good spares car if you really didnt want to use it.
New car looks nice!

RUNN is a fantastic reliable car but as I mentioned, it's showing its miles a little and this new one is a chance for me to upgrade to a much lower mileage, higher spec model in my favourite Xantia colour.

It's far too good to strip, besides I don't really have the storage space...In complete honesty though, I just couldn't do it. I'd much rather it live on or leave the stripping for someone else. I've had a lot of memories with RUNN, good and bad. It played a significant part in me getting into my first relationship (don't let your imagination run away with you  ), taken me and my mates all over the country on roadtrips in comfort, allowed me to cut my teeth on mechanics and proper suspension, which opens up another entire list of reasons including getting to know you lot (at least I think that's a good thing  )

I can imagine you will be a bit sad seeing RUNN go after all of those experiences and time spent with it. Its certainly easy to get attached to cars. Your new one has something to live up to with RUNN being such a dependable thing.

Ah, surely the best bit about your RUNN experience is meeting other Citroenists :-D Its the other way round for me, without this forum and help from it I doubt I would have ever got the courage to buy a Xantia Activa

Absolutely :-D Exactly the same applies to me...

Never ever thought I'd make so many very good friends and end up being best man to one of them :-D

And without DickieG I'd have never contemplated Activa ownership either...

Or V6 ownership

Talking to DHallworth on MSN before I used this website is what convinced me to start looking into Activa's, I then eventually bought one! This was after being in contact with him about them on Pug306.net!
