I'm no diesel expert, but I would seriously think about having the injectors checked. Each injector is setup to inject at a given pressure,(from the diesel pump) if the injector fails to open on time i.e. it requires longer to build up sufficient pressure to inject, it will effectively retard that cylinder by a few degrees. If two are out by a few degrees then you will get smoke, uneven running, knocking noises and poor acceleration. Get the injectors checked, it's normally free of charge, if they need refurbishing/overhall it may cost about £20 per injector. Just a guess, give it a go what have you got to lose.

Sounds like your pre-combustion chambers have become loose, I think you need to take the head off to have a look.If its down on compression its going to have to come off anyway.

Agree with Higgy there, a bloke on here had exactly the same thing happen with a 306 td not long ago.
Unless of course it's direct injection, which I doubt.

hi..just for info. I collapsed this topic 1, cos I sorted it and 2, cos , therefore I didnt want people wasting time on it - and 3, It wasnt a citroen !!!! ;-))) Thanks for your input those who did !
