Front bumper off and box section cavity waxed. All areas rust protected with aquasteel which seems quite good.

The above in the wheel arch seems to be a common cx rust spot...

Ahh well im sure it will all come good in the end :?

More welding done today, untill the gas ran out :(
Need to find somewhere to refil the bottle now, so weldings on hold.
I have been insulating the boot, as its the only area of the car thats done!
Ill pop some pictures up tommorow, but essentially ive done what shane from down under has done.

Currently im trying to hunt down a leather interior with little success!
The whole interior is going to be converted to black!

Glad to hear that more welding has taken place.

Keep a look out on the usual places Dave - I spotted some beige leather seats that had been on about 20 mins on eBay for a Buy It Now of £70!

Suffice to say, most leather's out there demand a much higher price...

No spare leather's here either unfortunately...

Wow, wonderful Dave.. You'll never want a car without it now...

What was the problem with it? I presume it's a good old Hella electropneumatic one?

I'll tell you how cool cruise is; cooler than a cool thing in liquid nitrogen... :D

I think it was just bad connections, i took a load apart and greased them up real good!
It is indeed an old one with the electric vacuum pump.
Works perfectly though! :D

More welding on the Cx today, almost all the floor welding is done... I think! But the tops of the wheel arches are worse than I thought.

Getting to the point where winter is coming so I wont be able to do as much as I had hoped before putting it back together. But so long as its enough to pass the MOT then thats good.

Advice to all, dont buy a Cx unless its lived in a garage all its life, if its had exposure to rain or been washed at any point in its life then its probably rusted!

I think I just need to accept there is no way I have the time or the skills to eradicate the rust properly ( if thats possible).

If I get another one, its going to have to come from the south of france! :?

The cx is finally on the floor and drivable again!
WOOOO!

Plenty of welding has been done whilst its been on stands.
Having looked at the rear subframe crossmember tube thing today it looks as though its fubared. So will need to get another one and perhaps get it dipped. In the mean time ill see if I can weld some 2mm plate in place of the soft bits....

Still need to refit the interior though!

Cant believe its been so long since I updated this!

On the Cx front.
It passed its Mot the other day, Just minor stuff to get it through. The Mot tester commented on how it looked good underneath!
So the 15 tonnes of metal welded into it in the last year helped then.
Just prior to this it managed to go from norwich to march to gatwick, then back again a week later in the ice and snow! Not bad for a 25 year old car.
I have managed to get hold of a rear subframe and will be getting it prepped soon. That will be a long job to fit as I want to repipe and clean up the back end at the same time!

More pressing is getting the roof fitted, I now have a sunroofless roof ready to go on. Just need to find somewhere to do it, so any suggestions welcome!
Once the roof is no longer leaking I can refit the rest of the interior.

On the Xm front.
Not a lot has changed, the alternator I had refurbished a couple of years ago is making one hell of a noise, so im guessing they did not replace the bearing when they did it! Will have to wait untill I can get the Cx back before removing the alternator for another refurbishment.
I hit a large pothole the other day and now have a knocking which sounds the same as before i did the droplinks. So lesson learnt.
I think I should have replaced the ARB bushes at the same time but whoosed out. So now I need to do those and the droplinks again.

Xm estate.
Not a lot has happened with this  , The cylinder head is still in situ awaiting removal! So really need to get round to that.

O and me and my dad are going to aquire a Cx estate DTR 2 soon 8-[
