Well, It is with great sadness, I can now confirm the the C6 has indeed been written off :mecker:

There is a possibility she will live again, but I need to ask a couple of questions from the 3rd Party insurer (some captain of boats or something like that  ) and then take it from there.

I can also say that I have had nothing but solid advise from everybody, and for that I thank you all

In the mean time I'm hunting for another C6, going to see one next week in Blue with a cream interior

Thats a shame Steve, best of luck with the hunt though, hopefully a 3ltr will pop up at the right price and then it sort of gives the whole thing a positive spin.

It is a shame Dean, but in another way kind of a relief that it's sorted, I'm not holding out hope for a 3.0, to be honest, it's nonsensical to wait, I need a car for work and thankfully only having the BMW for a week is making get off my :wiggle: and go looking.

I went to see a 10 plate 2.2 the other day that had more scratches on it than mine, but I spoke to a guy selling one, with a full service history and under 60,000 on the clock, He's down in London and I have to go to London on Wednesday so that ties in quite nicely.

It's sad though to see 'Ark Royal' sat outside the house, and it hurts like hell driving the BMW when I know I could be sat in comfort in the C6.

Sorry to hear about this Steve.

Did you get a drive in Keith's 2.2 HDI Auto at the CXM. I was pleasantly surprised by it. But thats ok for me coming from a 2.1 TD XM, and not a V6 HDi.

I did actually Robert, I guess I'm just a power junkie  I was quite surprised by Keith's, in fact I even contemplated getting his old one, which is for sale not far from me. Then I saw the one I'm looking at next week and to be honest it's already a good price, but me being a cheapskate, want it for even less.

That is a real shame Steve, it was quite unique being one of the first and with lower tax too.

Yes Keiths 2.2 is a nice drive, though economy doesnt seem all that different for him.

His old 2.7 is a bit battered in places and ideally needs a new front wheel, its low mileage but needs a bit of tidying up of the bodywork. Its not a bad price though, but im sure there are less scratched ones for similar.

Good luck with the search 8-)

Sorry to hear about the C6 , I hope you can replace it with something equally as nice , you've just got to get the 3.0 V6 Hdi you'll regret it if you get anything less

Mark,

The biggest issue with the 3.0 is the lack of them, there are only 15 that have been registered in the UK, one came up for sale last saturday and was sold by monday. So it looks to be another 2.7 Exclusive (hopefully)

Sorry about the news Steve :(

have they said if its going to be CAT C/D at all?

Are you thinking of buying it back as part of the settlement and fixing it up or just letting it go as they often allow them to go for a decent price as part of the settlement and they go for a decent amount more on the bay ;)

Mark, I've thought about that one, the trouble is it's a 2006 car (according to the ORGA number) and to be honest, it's a bit over priced.

Will, Thanks for the offer, I'm going to look at one on Wednesday in Ealing (I'm in London anyway) and it's cheaper with less mileage and a full service history, new tyres less that 4,000 miles ago and it's got T&T until next year. The Doncaster one is on the back burner along with another one in Newcastle

Will, sorry I've only just read this

I have to speak to the insurance on Monday, I don't want her, I haven't got the time, the room or the experience to bring her back to life, there is someone intrested in doing just that but until I speak to the insurance I don't know the answers as to whether its a cat C/D or hopefully unrecorded. I'm also going to ask for a copy of the engineers report.

Best case, would be unrecorded that way the potential rebuilder get the maximum out of it, I just want to cover my expenses, which is really a shame.

I've got all the receipts for her, she has a full Citroen service history, she does need the front suspension bushes doing and that's really about it.

I managed to get underneath yesterday and have taken more photos of the damage, it doesn't look as bad as I first suspected, but then again, I'm no engineer.....

I've decided after a great deal of heartache to walk away with the settlement from the 3rd party, I'm growing sick and tired of trying to get some sense from the 3rd party insurer, they have written the car off, but are unable to say what cateogry (C or D) as they have yet to get the engineers report. to put it bluntly, it's a complete C**K UP!!

On the upside, I'm down in London tomorrow and have made arrangements to go and see a 2007 Exclusive.
