Fusebox

Has anyone any tips on removing / replacing the under bonnet fusebox?

My S2 activa has immobiliser problems and this fusebox has been identified as a potential cause of the problem followed by a wiring issue.

Had a quick look today and need a LOT more info before i go there

Anyone able to help?

IIRC its held in by a few nuts locating on studs on the inner wing, I think you have to remove/loosen things either side of the box to see them. Rather than remove the whole fusebox can you not simply replace the relevant fuses or relays individually, there is normally a fair bit of room in there for doing such modifications. The relay plate simply clips in.

Battery out first for better access; the fusebox hold downs are 10mm nuts well hidden. IIRC you need to disconnect the three black infeed wires, too.

You're right

I can only 'see' one fixing bolt, now removed. The others appear to be behind the small 15way fusebox on the right as you look at the engine bay.

How does this lift out? Its got a couple of small lugs which seem to do nothing.

When (if) i eventually manage to get this out of the way what am i letting myself in for when it comes to the feed wires. How do they 'attach' to the fusebox itself?

Replacement fusebox on order so i've got a bit of time, thanks!

But, how?

How do i 'lift' the small 15way box in order to acces the bolts, which sem to go into the inner wing ...

There are three infeeds from memory, all black - they bolt on with different size/shape eyelets so crossbreeding requires a fair degree of persistent stupidity.

How are the harness feeds attached?

Flanged nuts; two M10 one M13 from memory.

If you don't mean the main 12V supply, the others I am not sure about! They may be soldered into the back of the fuse board. I wangled everything up and out the way to replace my 12V feeds.

Not the 12v feeds, i've managed them recently when i swapped over the '+' battery lead.

I mean, how are the harness inputs attached at the back of the fusebox, surely they're not soldered in as that would make replacement of the box impractical. Are they clipped in? If i could release the small fusebox from its mounting box i'd be able to tell you myself

Normally the connectors are attached to the sockets by way of little one way tags that need to be depressed as the connector is pulled out, I use a very small flat blade screwdriver to do this.

Any idea how to lift out the small fusebox to get at those inner wing bolts?
