Many thanks Jim/wheeler/andmcit ... i'll sit down and try and get my head around these tomorrow, should make good reading

I'm sure that I (we) can sort this, the car is otherwise aok ... just needs a bit of ram work for the MOT

Problem i've got is that it's stopping me getting Activa no 2 off the drive so i'll need to sort it one way or t'other !

Any hints on even the basics of fault finding using a mm or/and test light appreciated, and I mean 'basics'

Little progress made with this

I noticed a large split in the '+' battery lead so orderd up a new one, now fitted, still the same problems.

So far .... earh points cleaned on inner wing (where exactly is MM03 earth point?), new texton aerial fitted.

Looks like the real work has to begin because this car is blocking in my other car on the drive and if it cant be sorted, reluctantly, it'll have to be shifted by my local breaker

I've no knowledge of car electrics but will start, as suggested, at the injection ecu multiplug. Does anyone know which pins are which ie how are they numbered? I can then check for a feed, as suggested in previous posts.

Jim, those electrical circuits are fine but i'm struggling on some of notations, any chance i can PM you a list of 'very basic' questions when i get beyond the initial power check?

If you look carefully at the multiplug you'll see the numbers moulded into the plug alongside each connection, another way is to look for the number printed along the length of each wire and work out the numbers from there by cross referencing with the wiring diagram.

Mike,

whereabouts are you based - I'd love to help prevent an Activa being
dragged away by a scrapman - whatever you do, speak to the guys
here before resorting to that!? Even if it get's towed away to be used
to save another Activa if it got to that.

As an idea, to take the pressure off the immobilised car, to swap it over
with the one behind, at a cost of just £15 get yourself this:

These are great as you have a fixed length bar that you can not only tow
the car with but push it as well - these are superb and I've moved my cars
around a barn and up a steep ramp. Even if your car has settled on the
suspension you can prop it up to prevent it grounding - s2's shouldn't though
but I can elaborate for you if you want

Got a couple of pics of the multiplug and internal fusebox to post up when i sort out just how to do it

Can't see any numbering at all on the ecu multiplug connector (Richard) ...

Internal fusebox ratings do not match the info I have so if i post up a pic can someone check their Activa (mk2) and let me know what's wrong, ta!

Meanwhile, maybe I have a problem with fuse F17. The fuse (10amp in my box?) isn't blown and works fine in another slot but the circuit itself doesn't check out at the fusebox, dead.

Anyone any idea what i need to do, moretothepoint could this be the reason for my injection ecu not powering up?

With little experience i'm picking my way through this problem piecemeal, just need some advice on the multiplug pinouts and this current F17 problem, ta!

What makes you think there is a problem with the F17 circuit ? It doesent show on any of the diagrams. Do you know what fuse 17 powers ?

Unplug the double injection relay Check you have battery voltage all the time at pins 8,11,14 & 15. Also check you have battery voltage at pin 2 when the ignition is switched on. Let us know what you find.

F17 fuse is present and doesn't checkout when tested. The info I have is that this is related to the alarm control unit.

What and where is the double injection relay and how do I test it?

Look on the prevous page of this post for info about the Double injection relay. It's in the ECU box, i posted a pic.

So its the same relay as before, yes. Are the pins numbered? I'll check when I get home. Any info on the multiplug pinouts?

If you can't see numbers on the connector look on the ECU, on some like my HDi with an 88 pin ECU the numbers are only stamped at each end.

I was wondering how things were going and now I know...

I MUST do you a basic fault-finding guide to help with this...

Do you have yourself a test lamp?

What exactly do you mean that F17 does not check out when tested? is there no voltage on it?

F17 is a red herring. It feeds the automatic gearbox. And as I guess yours does not have such a device it can therefore be disregarded!
