My Xantia V6 Blog ....SADLY Due to End.. :-(

Hi all...

Well, finally made a start on my V6 Xantia Repair by strippin her down.

Car: 1997 P reg, Early Xantia V6 24v Auto.

Things to do...

Strut feed pipes badly corroded along most of the pipes.
ABS Not working, 3 sensors are away.
Lower engine mount rubber completely missing - completely AWOL
Front bumper damaged, new one got, needs spray.
Proper passenger wing to fit.. currenttly a standard one fitted.
Cam belt, water pump need changing as a matter of course.
Exhaust not blowing but not exactly tidy either...
Tyres to go the original alloys
Miss fire on the engine ONLY when cold
Rear electro valve is buggered too - according to Lexia anyway.

Anyway... made a start..

Thats the strip down so far, having a look around at what needs dooig here.

Wey hey, I also found an Auto Box dip stick... I pulled it out and the autobox fluid smelt, clean, un burnt, and red ish... Thats GOOD news to me...

Hey steve... Nah.. All easy stuff this :O as long as the off side drive syaft comes out the house easyilly then that shouldnt be too bad.... :-$ :-)

Isnt the esso spec fluid for these boxes clear? i thought only Dex2 was red........

Yes of course... It was clearish not red.. I forgot these boxs had esso not dex....

Lucky anyway, having the early one with the dipstick will make fluid changes simple.

This is the first of 4 to do... Ive also got a 1991 xm sed to work on, a 1993 xm v6 sei, and a hdi 110 xantia to do..... =-O

Good project!!!!

The centre bearing will be easy. You just need a nice long, slim cold chisel and a BIG hammer!!

What are you planning with the crusty Hydractive pipes?

I've been all over the same areas of a V6 like a rash, been there, done that and so on. Get in touch if you need advice or a shoulder to cry on...

Well I was gonna change the pipes for better looking S2 Pipes from a HDi Exclusive, however, the Hydractive block is at a different position and so the pipes are a different shape, so I cannot swap them...

Ill remove them, clean them up and see how thin they are once Ive finished... coat them with an anti rust again and re-fit them...

The drivers one is all clear to come off, but the passenger one is a bit more complex with the wiring loom passin over the top of it to the main fuse box...

With all the work you are doing there, you might as well lift the engine out and change the transmission filter for peace of mind for another 100,000 miles!

I had originally intrnded removing the whole lot but not sure i nee to now.. Where is the filter on them.?

the filter is in the box, you just need to split the case i think, i say 'just' but if its anything like the HP18 splitting the case is very easy. once you have the box out of course
