Hi, I want to change the gearbox oil in my 1997 1.9 TD . [Xantia ]
Do I need any special tools? What type of gearbox oil should I use ? My local Citroen dealer uses " Total " .

Hi, You have forgotten to mention if its a manual or automatic gearbox.
Manual Gearbox:
I have manual 5 speed (BE3) and I use Total 75W-80, capacity 1.8 liters (simply pour 2 liters
).
I use only wrench tool to undo the drain plug and always change the copper seal.

Good Morning Terry,
No special tools required but make sure you use the correct grade of gear oil ie 75w/80 semi/synthetic gear oil or 75W/90 spec API GL5 approx 2 litres is required.
