Activa Radiator Top Hose O-Ring

Unread post by DHallworth »

My Activa has been sitting in the shed for the last 6 months or so and has done no mileage in the last couple of years.

When I started the car on Sunday evening to give her a check over before her annual MOT I noticed that the car was loosing coolant quickly from the top hose connection into the radiator.

My radiator has a bayonet type fitting where you push the hose into the radiator and put a metal clip over the top of it.

I took it apart, cleaned it etc but it made no difference.

Rang Citroen to purchase the O-ring but was told it was only available with the top hose at a cost of £170.00.

I rang our local Peugeot dealer who I use for all my MOT's etc and he told me he had an O-ring on the shelf and to go and get it.

I took a run down, handed over 65p and left with an O-ring that looked identical. It's a shaped O-ring so one out of my box of generic ones wouldn't do unfortunately.

Tried it this morning and it's a perfect fit and has cured my leak.

I'm not sure what it was but I'm going to get the part number incase anybody else has the same problem.

Just thought I'd post this incase someone else has the same problem and resorts to buying a hose as this is a damn site cheaper!

David.

Its always worth consulting Peugeot for Citroen parts and vice versa, especially in these circumstances.

Part numbers are invariably the same.

As promised...

Part Number: 1343Z4.

This O-ring fits perfectly onto the top hose of the Activa with the bayonet fitting on the top hose.

Citroen don't sell them seperately.

Cost me 65p yesterday.

65p would be a cheap fix!

Yes it is Dave. Activa and the 2.1TD share the same rad. Also shared by late 1.9TDs as well...

Excellent tip about the Peugeot O ring being good David :D

My dealer could only get me them in packs of 10 so if you need one let me know.
