Aircon leaks ?

Unread post by HDI »

Just had a friend do an aircon check on my Xantia prior to a re-gas.
The machine announced a leak was discovered so we couldn't complete the job. Despite using a leak detector light and special glasses we couldn't locate the leak.
Are there any common leak area's on X 2's ?

Each time I have air condition serviced, they add a colored fluorescence dye detectable under the ultraviolet light.
It has green/yellow color and even visible by plain eye.

- Once it had visible traces coming down, on the side of the condensor where the pipes are connected.
Pipe and condensor connection probably developed hair cracks.

- Second place was the filling valves. One of them leaked.

Compressor bodies are common..

If it has the split type body were one half is fitting over the other the seal in that half can and does leak... noticeable by compresssor oil seepage or evedance of gas leakage.

Other then that oint seals, or rubber hose parts..

Mine is losing gas from where a rubber hose is near the HP pump. Oil splash from leaky pump seals has softened the rubber and swollen it.

That could be a good prospect for the problem on mine then !! The high pressure outlet on the hydraulic pump has blown about 10 times in the past !!!
Thanks guys, gives me a few area's to examine.
