You could ask the DVLA for the registered keepers info. think its costs £10-25 for the info i believe

If memory serves me right it was water damaged and an '07' so I don't know whats happened, could do with chatting to a journo but I don't know any, see if they have any idea's.....

IIRC i think the water damaged one had been flooded upto the roofline in those big floods a few years back, must have not had many miles on it either which is even more heart wrenching

So YOL has been located, I've PM'ed another member with a 2005 so that leave's 7 other's who aren't members.

Kev, The one that was water damaged, and is in the breakers, I've eliminated from my search, purely because it's got the Cream Leather interior and I believe all the 2005 registered ones had Black Leather. (and it was registered in 2007, I know don't go off the registration date!)

I have a bit of a quest/crazy idea of finding them all for a one off photo shoot. If you do come across them on your travels, I'd be extremely pleased to know where they were seen.

Well, That didn't go according to plan, 2006 car on a 55 plate, Oh Well.

Anyway, the 'Old Girl' has now just gone through the 80,000 mile marker, and I have to say with very little effort. The have been a couple of incident like brake pads freezing to the disc's, and the washer on the light's giving up the ghost, Hopefully, something and nothing. Not having the benefit of a garage I can get the car in, that can wait until the warmer weather.

I also need to look at the Head unit CD disc drive as it's struggling to read the satnav disc, hopefully just needs the heads cleaning. In fact, could be worth sorting out a new disc as well.

All in all, extremely chuffed with her still, Got a car polisher for Christmas, so that should make life a bit easier next year when it comes to giving her a 'bit of spit and shine'. Poor thing look's unloved and uncared for at the moment.

Since I sold my C6 Dave seems to have cancelled my login on C6owners so I can't even log in now without being told my details don't exist!

Shame really as I'd of liked to stay around and learn what problems people come up against as the cars get older and the mileages go up.

The above has now been sorted and David is back on site.

Well, finally got round to having a bit of a fiddle the other day, Finally sorted out the Headlight washer problem that Paul (CitroenXM) diagnosed back at CXM, I know but I forgot about them

and then the cold weather

anyway all is fine and dandy there.

Apparently there have been some issues with the boot lock packing up, and the fact it's only got a ski hatch (if you have the 'Lounge Pack' like I do) raised some concerns but it would seem that there is a release 'hole' in the boot catch.....

which of course requires a special tool

which you then insert and press to release the boot

Here is a view of the hole location after the boot has been opened

Oh the joy's of motoring, it did get me thinking though if this could be useful to those with Peugeot's that have a boot

Steve have any of your fellow C6 drivers noted any issues at high milage with the 2.7 engine at all as a few Landrover people seem to suffer some bad wear issues which seems a bit strange and they can't source the crank on its own as even citroen don't seem to sport it in the parts catalogue

Just wondering if i could stretch to a D3 HSE then it would most likely have the 2.7 engine and some high miles so its a bit of a worry for me

Will, to be honest I've not heard anything, or in fact come across anything like that, mine is probably one of the highest milage ones, currently at 81,478 and in the 18 months I've had it, I've documented everything here in the blog......

Here are the replies I got to your question
1. What are they classing as 'High Mileage'?

I just had a look and there isn't a separate part number listed for the crankshaft, but I would have thought there are places you can get one reconditioned with new bearing shells etc.

BTW a new engine would cost circa £6,000 (There is a second engine on EBAY for £1800)

2. Aha, a lot of the Ford V6 engines are officially classed as "non repairable" by Ford in so far as the bottom end, ie crank, bearings, main bearing caps go. Even some of the recent Ford 4 cylinder engine fall into the same category.

Given that this Lion V6 was absolutely conceived as a Ford Dagenham engine, this does not surprise me.

I would check out with a reputable engine reconditioner what the after market is able to do. Generally they should be able to manage some polishing of the crank, very light grinding and possibly commission custom bearing shells if possible.

Due to the relatively high value of a Landrover discovery or Range Rover Sport?, this kind of intervention might be warranted. Compared to a C6, would the possibly greater loadings in a Landrover installation pre-dispose the engine to failure?
