Do I need to swap pump immobiliser?

What I'd like to achieve is to rebuild the replacement pump completely (including re-armouring) before fitting and avoid having to de-armour my currently fitted pump.

But I think I'll have to do as you suggest.

No, sadly not Mike. On a MK2, the pump end of the immobiliser will be matched to the transponder and these two cannot be separated.

There is no option except to either forego the immobiliser or swap the pump-end as kenny says earlier.

It's not hard once the armour is off.

So a failed immobiliser means a new ECU is required (or a matched pair off a scrapper) plus key re-programming?

I'm not averse to removing my current immobiliser, I just want to do it in my own time, not because the car's left immobile until I do. :(

Hi Mike,

AsJim said both have to be the same to recognise the keycode but if you can get the key from your donar car then swap the ignition barrells over ie the front part only and you won't need to reprogram the key.

I can't remember if you reprogramm the donar ECU and Immob to your key code. Somebody on the forum will confirm or not.

Another option take the immob of your old pump and put it your new one then ECU and Transponder will think it is the same pump and no need to recode.
