Do I need to swap pump immobiliser?
I've searched and can't find the answer...
I'm planning to swap fuel pumps and the spare/replacement has a box of tricks under the armour that goes on to feed the stop solenoid.
Will I need to swap this part with the one off my current pump to retain the code as I'm unsure where the "code" lives. Or can I just swap the pump as is and the ECU takes care of the rest?
My car is the Xantia MK2 with RF system (chip in the key, pickup coil around ignition) though I don't know what my spare fuel pump is from.

Nope,
You'll need to swap the lump under the armouring over Mike. This bit is the bit that's matched to the transponder..
The ECU, unless you have a very special 1.9TD with a Lucas EPIC, plays no part in the immobilisation function at all...
Amazed you didn't find this through searches Mike. It's been discussed to death on several occasions...
Mind you, phpBB search is not the most useful or powerful of search engines. Google has nothing to fear from it

Don't know how that happened Paul. The forum was running very slowly for a time when I submitted that post...

True, it has been discussed many times, just couldn't find a definitive answer in the many posts I read - usually beginning in confusion over the MK1 keypad type or the MK2's RF system without getting round to naming which item is matched with the code.CitroJim wrote:Nope,

I wouldn't blame the forum search tool for not bringing me the answer, what with my poor searching skills.
Thanks Jim. Any news on the dash switch feeds? I tried searching the Laser software but it's got no such detail. I think I blew the lamp on a spare heated rear screen switch - I applied 12v, it lit up and promptly dimmed to nothing which makes me wonder if they're supposed to be fed a lesser voltage, such as 5v? I know some switches have diodes attached to the bulb circuits, making them polarity sensitive but apart from the now-blown bulb, I can't get any of the spare switchess to light up at all. Perhaps I've blown them all without knowing.

Hi Mike,
After all my expierences with the bosch pump,as Jim said just swap over the immobiliser from one pump to the other.
Kenny.
P.S. Re My experience,it looks like my belt has jumped one tooth hence it's running rough.
Hopefully, I will change the belt on thursday weather permitting.

Hi coxen,
It's worth looking at MikeT's posting on the blogs re the bosch pump. i used a dremel diamond encrusted cutting tool which made a cut in the sheared bolt which goes into the distributor on the pump.
As Jim says its good interesting fun

You can try that if you have easy access to a Lexia. The trouble being to 'test' it it needs to be fitted really (I guess you could try it by hand with care) , and to deamour it, it needs to come off (again)MikeT wrote:Revisiting this thread as I'm close to doing the pump swap at last.
As an alternative to swapping immoblisers, can I not just re-program my keys to the replacement pump with the Lexia?
My suggestion: Remove amour, leave immobilizer in place. Fit pump like that. If you cannot code it you can at least remove it in situ without the amour being present.
Andy.
