Clutch pulley tool

HI Forum

I've decided to try to change the seals of my Harrison 1135253 compressor, after the replacement failed in the same place as my old one!

However, i cant get the first nut undone, as the pulley spins with the nut.

Where can i get the tool for this and are there any other tools i'll need??

i asked my freind who runs his own mobile air con repaire service regarding a repaire to my pully, as the bearings are on there way out, he says to fit new bearings means stipping the pully down then it will require re/shimming to get the gaps right,

I've had the clutch off a Harrison compressor before, to replace the pulley bearing, I posted on here about it.

There was no shimming to get the clutch air gap correct, it was just a case of tightening the armature along the shaft until the air gap was correct. From memory, you don't need to remove the pulley to get at the seals, just the clutch. If you're removing seals, I'd guess that you'll have to regas the system afterwards.

This all sounds mighty complicated, especially for someone with no metal working tools.

I was only intending to get the clutch off (the first nut that you can see on the outside) and change the seals. Will i have to go through all that process you are talking about to change the seals??

You'll have to remove the clutch armature, the pulley and its bearing won't need to be removed. I'm not sure what holds the seal in place, but whatever it is will need to be removed. Removing the seal means that your aircon gas (refrigerant) is going to escape which means regassing afterwards...

On the subject of air con pullys, is it possible to change a 5 ridged pully for a 6 ridged pully on a Sanden compressor????
