Poorly HDi Xantia

Unread post by citroenxm »

Hi All..

Got a Xantia HDi in, with the diagnostic light on... Lexia says Low Fuel Pressure signal reading..

Car starts and runs, but is limmped to 3k revs flat out.... however, after a couple of revs it will suddenly go up to MAX revs, but then theres an awfull diesel KNOCK.... its not your average knock, its that bad the engine shudders with it, then goes to stall.... any HDi owners tell me if this is an injector playing silly buggers??? Next timeIll get Lexia on it and do a Parameter Readings and see what happens....

If however, HDi guys arent sure, Ill update this if and when I find out...

Cheers

Paul,

Is this low pressure diagnosis on the high pressure side or on the low pressure side? I'm wondering about the lift pump or a filter that's clogged with bits of a dying lift pump...

Hi mate,

After a high speed run down the motorway in ours it cut out a few months back.

A diagnostic session with the lexia reported low fuel pressure.

After changing over the injectors it seems to have cured the fault.

Hey D...

Cheers, Im suspecting injectors too.... I cannot see it being the engine pump, as they either work not NOT at all...

The tank pump has just been changed, so Im looking injectors too..

Jim, High pressure side....

Pull out the pressure regulator on the end of the pump and check for metal debris, also give the electric connectors a spray with contact cleaner and wiggle concentrating on the pump pressure regulator and fuel rail pressure sensor.

Hi all..

Just to wrap this up - the fault on the fuel system WAS exactly what the Lexia was telling me...

The Fuel Rail Pressure sensor was duff... a replacement and we are away!!

Good as new!

Thanks
