Dean PM Sent,
Andrew,
I have the sender/pick up unit out of the tank already, I had to drain the tank to take the filler pipe off to get at one of the rear subframe bolts.
I sent a XM bonnet over to George in Glasgow a few months ago, it wasn't hugely expensive. I'll look for the price and give you a guide as to how much it may cost.
The hydraulic clutch, well I snipped the oil feed pipe that goes from the pedal mechanism, so how does that leave it?
I try and get as much off the cars as possible so that they can go to the scrapman before the tinks come around and eye it up themselves! This year has been a busy one for breaking cars, 3 XMs, a BX, a CX and 2 Xantias now. This will have to do me, I'm running out of space.
Jim,
The rams are dry, and the front one is on my car already. I damaged the seal on the outer body that the rod slides through, and had quite a bit of leakage from it. So its in my spares pile now. I plan to keep all the Activa specific hydraulic stuff as it'll be harder and harder to get in the future, and I'd like to try and keep my Activa as long as possible.
Regards
Robert

Worth it just for the rams then Robert
Don't scrap your other ranm as the oil seal in the top of the black sleeve is just a normal oil seal.
This mob should be able to supply...

As long as the slave cylinder is in one piece, it'll be usable

Given the eyewatering cost of them, it's recoverable. It just needs my patent bleed nipple fitting to the slave cylinder...robert_e_smart wrote: The hydraulic clutch, well I snipped the oil feed pipe that goes from the pedal mechanism, so how does that leave it?

I don't suppose you fancy selling either the nearside or both rear shock struts do you (the bit the rear corner spheres screw into)? My nearside is a bit limp and sits lower than the offside, I can only assume it's one of the rear shock struts. If you wouldn't mind selling them I'd take them off you. I could do with the rear subframe mounts if they look in good nick?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi Jim,
The slave cylender that sits on top of the box is still intact, and has a good few inches of pipe coming out of it. I could still retrieve the remainder, and it could be joined again.
Definately worth it for the rams, I was planning on just taking a few bits from the car, but I was offered the opportunity to buy it complete which was handy. Luckily it has good strut tops, and one of the main benefits of it being a ROI car is ZERO rust. They don't salt as many of the roads there as we do in the UK.

Ahh, no problem at all on the clutch then Robert; join and bleed - job's a good 'un.
Here's a challenge for you: retrieve the throttle cable.....
Worth knowing that about ROI cars
What's the situation for importing them into the UK? I presume there exists a mechanism for easy importation into NI which, hopefully, applies to UK as well...

I was planning to. I'll report back on how much of a bandit that job was, although I remember changing the throttle cable on out 1.9 TD years ago, and it was Ok.Here's a challenge for you: retrieve the throttle cable.....
Well, I don't have any paperwork for the car at all. Thankfully the scrap metals man that get the shells doesn't ask for the V5s.Worth knowing that about ROI cars Wink What's the situation for importing them into the UK? But in general for bringing a vehicle from ROI into the UK you have to present the vehicle for MOT, fill in some forms, surrender the old registration document, present the new MOT cert, tax the vehicle and they will issue it with a reg number. I don't know if they will issue it with a timely original reg number or a "new" one (new ones probably only apply to NI, for example all my cars except the silver Activa are on GB plates, I can get the DVA to issue me with a "New" NI reg number if I want, but I can't be bothered with it, and think that old cars with new reg numbers look wrong.)
The downside of ROI cars is that they get a hard time, and aren't looked after as well as we do, and many of the country roads are in poor shape, so more wear on suspension components etc in regular sprung cars.
But for people bringing a vehicle from the UK and registering it in the ROI, they have to pay import tax, and their road tax is stupidy expensive. The average Xantia diesel owner will be paying the equivalent to the cars value in road tax a year! I'm on the look out for UK registered cars for sale in ROI, as they're technically worthless, costing too much to re-register.

Hi Dommo,
Sometimes my car does the same thing, the nearside rear sits a bit lower than the rest of the car.
I had a look at the Citroen parts site, and they only list hydractive or non hydractive suspension cylenders.
I haven't had any problems with them yet on any of my cars.
PM sent.
Robert

Thanks for the PM Robert.
I'm wondering whether one of my rear cylinders has been replaced with one off another car, and because I don't know which, this is why I would be looking for the pair ideally - if that makes sense?
My RP number is 8253, I think.. And using my VIN number the rear cylinder part numbers are 5272 46 (left) and 5272 47 (right). I assume left = nearside?
Thanks!
