I should have asked this when I was doing the job - the crankshaft bolt has a fat spacer/washer which, at least on my MKII, has a slightly larger hole than the bolt, meaning it doesn't sit perfectly central.
So the obvious query I have is, is this normal or should it be a perfect tight fit and will it make enough of a "balance" issue to be a concern?

Hi Mike
As long as you remembered to fit the spacer, you'll have no worries.
The crankshaft pulley is pretty heavy - the spacer isn't - so it won't cause problems.
