Xantia Blower - FINALLY FIXED!!!

I don't know - it shuts off exactly with the dash lights, so I presume it's in parallel.

You could have more fun with a small sampler wired into the radio and triggered by the dash lights (or empty relay socket) - playing back a breathy female voice with French accent saying "Please wait until it goes up"...

Only our Vicki could make such a statement sound sexy but she does!

Vicky B-H is a presenter (a rather attractive one) on the rival to BBC's TopGear called FifthGear which goes out on Channel 5 in the UK.

I believe she was once (or still is) a small-time racing driver in much the same mould as Heidi of Nurenburgring fame...

My tongue is hanging out thinking of Vicky and Heidi... Better get some work done methinks...

Which Xantia are you talking about, my reasons are as follows I have found the hen's teeth ( as Alexander would say)in Bonnybridge, Falkirk where there is V plate diesel 1.9TD recently arrived. I am intending to Pillage it again.

Hello,

It's a 2000 W Reg 2.0 HDi Exclusive.

I did get the resistors done last night. Managed to get them from RS Components in Glasgow for around 11 quid.

Just contemplating going to the workshop to fit it back into the car.

If that doesn't work I might be interested in a full motor if there's one in that car.

Just been out and fitted the motor back to the car but it's not made any bloody difference!

Oh well, I'll start phoning scrap yards tomorrow.

Did you check that brush lengths are long enough to make contact with the rotator? There are two of them.

Didn't check that as when I put 12v directly across the motor it started spinning the other day so I assumed the motor was ok.

I tried the Activa's unit in the car and it worked.

I thought it might be worth trying with the transistors.

Will see what the local scrappys have available tomorrow.

Ha! I have some French chick whose name is given in the menu options as "Virginie". Wasn't going to have a French car speaking English!

When I've finished trying to start a fire (replacing fuel pump) I will remove that relay and see if the alert buzzer stops.

Hi David,

The scrappie's phone number is 01324 819 009, they have 1.9TD estate.

Jim , can you confirm it is the same motor in the 1.9 as the 2.0 HDi.

I found a scrappy in Glasgow called Balmore.

They had a dark blue W reg HDi that looked to be in good condition.

I took the blower motor from it but he said for £250 I could have the whole car. Problem is I don't have space at the moment with a C6 arriving next week and another XM in 5 weeks.

However, I fitted the new motor and it didn't make any difference at all.

Back to the drawing board....

Have a look at this thread David.

It tells how to check the signals going to the blower speed regulator module from the climate ECU...

Hope that helps shed some light...

A Lexia is useful too for diagnosing Climate issues.

I've been prodding around with the multimeter again, there's no voltage at the brown plug, no voltage at the fuse under the steering wheel, and I've no idea where to go from here!
