Can you show what you are trying to do with tester Dave? A few pics of what connects to where?

I've been building a sphere tester for about the past 20 years lexi and I keep on not finishing it
All it is is an HP pump (mine's from an early "sinker"), a pressure regulator and a gauge. An LHM reservoir (an old LHM bottle0 feeds the pump, the pump feeds the Pressure Regulator and the optput of the regulator goes to the gauge that will read up to 100 Bar. Pop a test sphere on the pressure regulator, nip up the bleed screw, rotate the pump by hand and keep turning until the gauge settles. Read off the pressure in the sphere.
The issue I think you have Dave is to connect the regulator output pipe to the gauge. This is mine too and I will one day turn up an adaptor on the lathe to allow a 3.5mm pipe stub to be soldered into the back oof the adaptor. I must do mine as it's a very useful tool. Like a hydraulic Lexia really and it takes all the guesswork out of sphere condition.
Hydractive cars stuck in firm mode are rather unforgiving on the ride front...

Sounds like your rear Hydractive electrovalve is not working Dave. I assume yours has Hydractive II so what applies to hydractive Xantias should apply to your XM. Can you hear it humming and clicking? You may just need to do the diode mod...davetherave wrote:Drove back to my parents about 2hrs away last night, and it was just damn painfull, the back end feels so bouncy, then bangs over every bump in the road. Reminded me of the time when the xantias plastic height adjuster bit popped off and the back went rock hard.
I thought that replacing all the rear spheres would help but seemingly not.

The pressure regulator and gauge? Is this the regulator from the front of our Xantias? The oil pressure gauge is an industrial type or one from a car?

The regulator i believe can be from the front of any old citroen, mine is from a BX, and the guage is from a company recomended by Jim, Harrier power fluids i believe, at a not unreasonable price.
The Pump for mine is a single output CX pump, and i already bought flaring tools and pipe from pleides to make the pipes.
I rang martin again about the hyrdraulic connector to connect the gauge to a flared pipe, when he gets back to me ill post up on here.
Ill take some pictures of my setup once i get back to norwich!

Indeed, replacing the Flat tyre for a start!, i have stopped and had a look in the past when it was the other side of the compound.
Anything looks good compared to the one i have in storage! went to visit it the other day, and applied power to it. Amazingly the electric windows and radio worked! as well as the horn Lol.
Engine didnt turn though.

Well something positive today, and somethings not so positive.
I finally got round to cleaning the washer jet pipes out in preperation for the MOT, ive never seen so much crap in the pipes! They were black to begin with!
All working now though .
However the car has gone back into shed mode, so it was banging all the way home.
Th brakes are also still uber scary, when pressed the ABS cuts in and out, and my black leather goes brown...
i was doing some more reading up on the different types.
think green=bendix, blue = teves
Well at the back of my car its one of each
oo er.
When it fails the MOT on monday, i think i might just bite the bullet and buy a genuine sensor to see if that cures it.
If not its bulbs out time and dot matrix disablement for the re-test!
Next Cx arriving on monday! Not that ill be able to go back and see it for a couple of weeks

Thats correct, coming down from high speeds, all seems fine, similarly braking at high speeds is no problem. Is this happening at slow speed just prior to stopping
At slow speeds,= brown seats time.
Just means i have to leave a large gap so i dont shunt the car in front!
