Thanks to Addo and Info

Thanks Addo for representing me during my absence,

Yes my Activa does have a CT engine which I am still getting used to, after driving BX and Xantia 16V 2 litre engines for the last 5 years. It does feel much more like my diesel C5 actually. The colour is Rouge Pivoine code EHJ which is quite pretty :) , goes with living in Queensland 8) but does show the dirt. :(

I'm glad to report that replacing the guide sets for the control rods has substantially cured the 'activa dance' - one set was worn right through to the metal top flange. I couldn't find much evidence of any seal to keep the dirt out of these guides. On the parts diagram I have, it show what is described as a seal washer as going on one of the retaining bolts for the guide set ?? part# 5273 12. Are these the seals to go on the control rod to protect the guide set?

I have also been progressively testing sphere pressures. Is it a recommended to bleed the rear active block after having had the sphere off?

Still lots to learn.

Hi Ken.

I've posted about your experience in one of the other threads.

My Activa seems to shuffle every time the regulator opens to build pressure. (Mine has had new rods and guides recently. There's no washer on the guide blocks - rightly or wrongly I use chain lube on mine). It's more often than every 15 seconds on mine, but that might depend on the condition of the accumulator sphere.

I don't know what the cure is - I suspect one of the Activa-specific spheres is flat. But the symptoms are that when the regulator clicks, the car drops (to the right in my case), then raises back when the regulator closes. Is yours the same?

Don't just replace the guides, replace the rods too as they get worn.

Yes, that. They're so cheap that I'm even tempted to buy a spare set while I still can. About £16 per rod last time I looked.
