About your Activa.

Unread post by Quackers »

Just wondering what mileage other people have got on there Activa's , what its on now, when you bought it, and what you have had to change in the time of ownership. Just to see how reliable and expensive these cars have been for people.

2000: V, Series II Activa.
Bought Mileage: 59,000 in May 2006
Current Mileage: 89,500

In that time i've had

New Radiator
All 10 Spheres changed plus LHM Change
New front roll corrector arms and bushs
New fanblower motor
Rear RAM bush (the rattley one)
New discs and pads all round
Just one full set of tyres, although front are looking like needing a change soon.
New rear exhaust and middlebox

Do not think i've done too badly.

For my first one (now Gareth's) the list looks very much like yours

New Radiator
New Alternator
All 10 Spheres changed plus LHM Change/Hydraflush
New front roll corrector arms and bushs
New fanblower motor controller transistors
Rear RAM bush (the rattley one)
New discs and pads at rear
S/H front height Corrector
Track Rod end
cambelt/waterpump/coolant (precautionary)
Hydractive diode mod
Windscreen

I had it 18 months and it had 96K on the clock. It left me with about 105K.

My new one has been very good as everything was done previous to my ownership and I know it had a lot, including rams and heater matrix.

Bought with about 105K in the summer, now on 107K (weekend fine weather car only)

To date, all it has needed is a replacement cooling fan motor, one bulb and a set or rear corner spheres and rear hydractive sphere.

DickieG may like to complete the list for mine!

I've only had mine for 5 weeks so far, and have done about 800 miles. Nothing changed as yet. Lots of the major bits were done by amurleopard (Thomas) the previous owner (spheres, heater matrix, radiator, rear ram). However, it will shortly be receiving:

Roll corrector arms and bushes
Centre and rear exhaust
Engine mounts

I think it should be pretty near perfect then, except for the brakes! I might pluck up the courage to think about the brake pedal mod one day.

It was done right :D said Activa drives and looks like a brand-new car.

I took it for it's regular weekly leg-stretch today and it really is a cracker of an Activa. Such an utter pleasure to drive :D

Hi,

Had mine since September last year. Its got just over 99,000 on the clock, 78,000 when I got it so its been well used in that year and a bit! Other than oil and filter changes, I've actually had to do very little:

-Blower was broken when I got it. Is wired now through a bypass to be switched in/out as required.
-Replaced aux belt.
-Have a petrol tanker parked on my drive for the fuel consumption!

That's it......... however, it needs:

-Front ARB drop link (rattling like mad).
-Possibly a rear ram (hope not!).

Its been completely reliable in the "never let me down" kind of way and breezed through its MOT in March '09.

Hope this helps.

In addition to the stuff I've HAD to do, I have also replaced one of the rear doors cos it was rusting. When I took it to bits, it turned out it was a new skin on the existing door frame, presume it hadn't been rustproofed very well. Didn't have to spray new door as it was the same colour as my car. Bought all the doors, both front wings and the bonnet off the same car to make sure I had a colour match but haven't done them yet.

Have also put in a S2 Exclusive black leather interior with suede door trims. Looks great :D !

Car SORN'ed at the moment while my bank account recovers from various nasty shocks! Hoping I don't have to sell it. Running the TD estate instead and wish they'd imported the HDI Activa!
