Outside Temperature Reading Not Working

Folks
My 2001 C5 2.0HDi has an outside temperature on the main display but it doesn't work. It simply reads as follows: -- (just 2 dashes)
All other readouts work perfectly.
Any ideas anyone?

the exterior temp sensor in the n/s door mirror is almost certainly faulty.

If this is the problem is it an easyfix or it it likely to be expensive? I can live without it but I would much prefer if it was working.

I think the sensors from Citroen are less than £20.00 but have a look on ebay you may find some cheaper. If its the same as the XM it lives in the bottom of the near side mirror.
