My brothers c5 has A/C but + &- buttons to control the fan speeds. The fan has now decided not to work! I've checked the fan itself and it is working when connected directly to battery. The control unit seems to put the fan 'on' in the display then after 10 secs, it looks as if its been switched off. Any ideas lads???????????
:D  I used to have a black '92 BX GTi 4x4; I wonder where it went? :D

I'm not sure about the straight A/C version, but the climate control, being slghtly intelligent, doesnt allow direct fan operation.
You choose your preferred option, and the system decides when conditions are appropriate to apply it. For example, if you are starting from cold, and choose a high cabin temperature and fast fan, chances are that the fan won't cut in at full speed until the engine is warm enough for it to pump out warm, rather than cold, air.

Laa-laaah ! Here we go again.

Same fault as in the Xantia, they just can’t help themselves.
The output transistor has blown.

Story of replacing the transistor only with an IRFP064N or IRF1405:
