C5 - Multifunction Display

Unread post by fred1 »

Hi,

Since I changed the bulbs on the MF display on my 2001/2 C5 2.2 HDI Excl I have been unable to get the left hand button to access the reset menu for date/time etc.

When I press the button the screen goes dark and nothing happens.

When released, the date/time is flashing and counting up from when battery reconnected.

All the other functions and alerts are working ok.

Anyone any ideas ?

Anyone know if you can fit a used replacement from the scrappy or are they coded to the car ?

Thanks

John

If i remember right the only programming in them is if the car has a CD changer or not. So as long as yours doesent have on then no programming needed.

In such a case I would take the unit out and check the connection to the wiring loom. I would pull the plug out and push it in a few times.

It sounds like you may have damaged the unit when replacing the bulbs. I've not heard of this happening before but there's always a first time!

Scrapyard? The same unit is fitted to some Xsaras (and possibly other models) so they shouldn't be difficult to find.

Even if your car had the first type of display I would fit the second type as it shows more information (which door is open, outside air temp all the time).

In fact I did this very upgrade a few months ago on the Xsara (an LX). I found 2 examples in a scrappy, one in a Xsara SX and the other in a C5.
