Series 2 in to 1 Air Con

Unread post by citroenxm »

Hi all...

A question for you, does any one know if the Air Con evaporator (Behind the Dash) from a S2 car fit a S1 car?? I KNOW I need to loose some of the glove box space, but will the actuall unit fit behind the S1 dash??

Hmmm, I wonder actually, if the S2 dash would fit the S1 car... :!:

:?

Well, if anyone thinks im MAD, well maybee I am.. Ive got the dash out of the S2 donar, need to see now, but it looks like the heater unit is MUCH easyer to remove in the Xantia - unlike the XM it doesn't have the harness running across it.

The Blower / exchanger side splits from the heater side, so the whole lot doesn't need to come out..

Well, incase any one MIGHT be wondering, yes the system DOES swap over, and from the looks of it, this is one area of S1 and S2 that NEVER changed!!

Got the evaporator in this weekend, HOWEVER, of course, the wireing is all different, and Im gonna have to setup a manual wireing loom to switch the compressor on/off, via the pressure switch, useing the evaporator temperture probe...

All mad stuff! Gota few engine maods to do now for the compressor to go on...

THANKS JIM! Love one!

As per wanted post, do you also have a roller for the auto tensioner from a 1997/98 XUD?? You know, the ones that split the aux belts??

Yes!!! I always knew my magpie/squirrel tendencies would come in useful one day. I only throw anything away when it really is useless!

I'm almost virtually 100% certain I have one.

Will let you know when I'm home and looked in my squirrel box.

FANTASTIC!

I have the mounting bracket, and the alloy sump, so I need to move the HP pump to the top and swap oil sumps..

Pushing it a bit, but I may need the torx bolt, unless any other sort will do.. Im ok for the ecentric roller, found a spare one the other week, befor realising I needed it.. I have seen it recently too.... :?

What sort of beer tokens would you like?

On a V6, that's getting off lightly  I wish mine only needed 3 ABS sensors  Mind you, it's already consumed one..

Looking forward to lots more news on it

Jim,

Sent you a personal EMAIL with a couple of pics, the pully doesn't fit.. I think theres a difference between the metal arrangement and plastic pull arrangement...

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay  I've just seen your email as I've only been looking at the forum from a remote location with no email access for a couple of days

Indeed they are different  There's a shoulder on the plastic pulleyed one that is not present on the all-metal one.

I've just looked at the remains of the old tensioner the pulley came from and wondered if you could prehaps transfer the needle rollers from one to the other but you'd need a press as the cages are tightly in there and what's the betting the needle roller cages are different sizes

In mine the needle rollers and the bearing sleeve are well worn and not up to any further use.

I'm really sorry Paul that this has all ended up not resolving your needs :(
