Dreaded Management Light

Post by pikecrazy »

Well this afternoon when i turned the engine off it seemed to run on for a couple of seconds. :?

Noticed the light came on mmmmm so i pulled away but engine wouldn't rev over 2000 rpm.

Thinking it could be a fuel problem i checked filter but it was ok.

Any ideas folks

I would be tempted to say that its gone into limp home mode.
I think that generally points to dud/dying sensor, I know a member of my family had this problem a while back with their 406 HDI, that was one of the sensor.
there might be something lurking around the forum, try the search function.

If the engine runs on it could be the pressure regulator on the high pressure pump sticking. Equally I think the pressure sensor on the fuel rail could cause the same problem.

Its quite easy to take the pressure regulator off the pump to have a look. Two torx screws to undo it, then it just pulls out the back of the pump. Be very careful not to introduce any dirt into the system though.

For something to run on and not rev out, the other issue could be heat. Lack of water may not show on the temperature gauge... How's coolant level in the overflow tank?

pikecrazy,
What did you have to do to fix your car. I noticed that you have a patched ECU, what was that done for?

Regards
Howie

It just seemed to clear itself after i removed the fuel filter :?

The patched ecu was related to the Fuel Pump I'm not quite sure what was done.

Thanks pikecrazy,
