Citroen don't sell ignition switches - True ?

Unread post by Philjw »

I sent my good lady to buy a clip & a clutch cable for my 97 Xantia TD Estate on Saturday and told her to ask if the main dealer could supply the electrical side of the ignition switch as I fear that this may be the cause of the lack of rear screen heater.
The parts man told her that Citroen only supply the complete unit with the lock barrel & new key for £130 +.
This contradicts earlier postings on this forum. Can it be true?
If not does anyone know the part number (Jon?)
I'm still stiff from doing the cable & have a couple of hints gained from this excrutiating experience:
Tape the nut from the pedal pivot to an open ended 13 mm spanner with paper masking tape. Open a hole for the bolt with a pointed tool. Pull the spanner off when the bolt is tight.
Fix the metal clip into your long nosed pliers by tightening a nylon cable clip around the handles. This helps to get the clip in place on the plastic tube.

It is true they only sell the compete key barrel and ignition switch
A cheaper option is to go to the breakers where you can remove the barrel assembly and remove the switch which is held on with a grub screw, you can fit the replacement switch to the original barrel.

Have a look at the GSF online catalogue - you will probably be pleasantly surprised.
