what the fault if it jumps allong even though its got movment in the front suspention, J reg with sports mode

Malcolm, when you say it jumps along, do you mean it is feeling really hard at the front?
If this is it then your front is stuck in hard mode due, most likely, to a failed diode in the electrovalve or a totally flat centre sphere.
J reg I would expect it to be the old Hydractive I. On these, if I'm thinking correctly, the "Sport" switch puts the suspension into full-time hard mode and not a lot else. It may be worth checking this switch is doing what it should.
