xantia front and rear lights suddenly stopped working. I have checked all fuses and are ok. power coming into the switch arm. Indicators work ok.
Any sugestions please.

What I meant was you to check with a testlamp that you really have a beefy and good +12V on the fuses when lights are switched on. This means you put one side of the test lamp to each fuse in turn - and the other side of the test lamp to ground (chassis). The testlamp should of course light up.
Its very important to know if you have a +12V on the fuses - as this is a milestone in further fault tracing.
No relays are involved if there are fuses for each lamp function. Unless of course previous owners have messed around ...

This fault rings a bell.
The wiring loom that passes along the bottom of the radiator is a favourite for very strange electrical faults that affect the lights.
