I have a gift for you
Cruise Control schematic for Peugeot 406 HDI without BSI
This can also be made on Xantia, but not on all ECUs. The older ones do not have option to activate it.
I have just purchased a newer ECU that should have this possibility. Later I will try to copy only the software to an older ECU, to see if it can run this way.
All Xantias originally fitted with cruise used the Hella electropheumatic system with a mechanical linkage to the throttle butterfly. There is no provision in any Xantia ECU for 'fly by wire' cruise as utilised in the 406 circuit as show above...

I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss that Jim. If the 406 HDi ECU has the provision for it in it's programming then why would PSA change it for the Xantia? Also (i'm not sure here) but LHD HDi's may have had it drive by wire. at the end of the day it's all down to the programming, IF the xantia has it then there is no reason that i can see that it cannot be added. (i'm not talking about a legal standpoint here either.)

True enough Chris but show me on the Lexia where you may enable it. I've not seen it. Also, I'm not aware the HDi has the wiring in place for the column stalk. I'm sure we've been here before
If it were possible I would have thought Citroen might have offered it as an option on the Exclusive HDi. As far as I know they didn't. This would have been the only one as apart from the 2.1TD (IIRC) that had a throttle pot rather than a direct bowden cable to the throttle butterfly or load lever as appropriate.

It may not need enabling on a lexia ala C5. If it was a simple, if the switch is fitted it works system which given the age of car is possible. Citroen could so easily have done a lot of different things to the Xantias but for whatever reason didnt, a trip computer for one. The wiring is a trivial thing really though....

OK, put your money where your mouth is I think I may have a cruise stalk you could have
Take a look " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Regulateur de vitesse" = Crouse control
There is a man in a Spanish Xantia forum who installed Cruise Control on HDI.
I'm going to follow his work to do it on my Xantia.
There are a few versions of the ECU. The early ones doesn't have any options to configure something. The newer have a Configuration menu ("Telecodage" in the video) where it can be programed.
Tomorrow the 2001 Xantia ECU will arrive. It should be the correct one. On Saturday I'll take a stalk and ON/OFF button from petrol Xantia with auto gearbox and cruise control.
If everything is OK, at the end of the weekend I will have it working.
Then I can provide you a full "How to" if you do not want to read it in Spanish
The Spanish forum is http://www.clubxantia.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You need a registration to view their "Do it yourself" forum which is called "Bricos"
The thread is called "Instalación regulador velocidad motor HDi". Direct link - http://www.clubxantia.com/viewtopic.php?t=11451" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And btw a trip computer can also be installed on almost all Xantia ECU-s. They have an enabled pin for current fuel consumption that gives information to the trip computer.
This is from 406 (the old one without BSI) http://postimage.org/image/64thhzn0z/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
measuring also an internal temperature, with a sensor next to the AC sensor http://postimage.org/image/8zvynoan3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The HDI Xantia have wiring for CC stalk and button but it is not going to the ECU. The ECU pins are empty...
But I found one big connector between the front seats which is for the CC module used in petrol models.

On a Xantia, where does the distance signal get connected?
Did you find a wiper switch with trip button that fits a Xantia?
The trip computer from 406 D8 and also on XM uses signal from the speed sensor which is the same - 8 pulses per tire revolution/5 pulses per meter.
This is the schematic for 406 - http://postimage.org/image/2h38cr344/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
1620 is the speed sensor. 1625 is not mandatory. We don't have it. I took the speed signal from the dashboard with the fuel level signal and low fuel telltale signal.
The stalks are the same on 406 and Xantia. But we have the rear window heater button on our wiper switch. So I used lights/indicators switch with horn button on it, like on Xantia 1(96-97 with fog lights on it), Xsara, and others...

If I can find a mfd from an early 406, I will try connecting it in my Xantia S1 V6, which does not have the window heater button on the wiper switch.
Looking at the 406 schematic, I think that the connections top plug:
1. battery feed
2. ground
3. accessory feed
4. ignition feed
5. illumination feed
6. thermistor (door mirror, or interior)
7. thermistor (door mirror, or interior)
9. radio bus (not used)
10. radio bus (not used)
13. fuel gauge (from instruments)
14. fuel gauge (not used)
15. radio bus (not used)
bottom plug:
2. ground
5. mode switch (wiper stalk, or other)
6. fuel warning light (from instruments)
10. VSS signal (from speedo)
12. Injection signal (from ECU )
I have 2 marked as fuel warning, but one must be for something else?
Which model radios was this compatible with for radio display? any Blaupunkt?
Is miles/kilometers gallons/litres switching is chard coded.

It looks that the dashboard and the trip computer are connected in series to the fuel sensor, but in fact they are in parallel, because pin 13 and 14 are shorted on the PCB.
Pin 6 on the next line is from the low fuel light.
For your engine the pin for trip computer is 32.
MPG or l/100km is hard coded to the LCD. There is a possibility to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
I need to check for the name of the 1625.
By the way I already have the new ECU It is from April 2000. The ORGA number of the car is 8563. It is the correct one with "Configuration" menu with option for Cruise Control
As I know the ECUs with this version are fitted in cars after ORGA 8421.
Tomorrow I will wire all things and hope to get the stalk and the button
