xantia brake slide gaitor change.

Post by lawns2 »

Can anyone give some guidance on changing front caliper slide gaitors. They look to be a combined gaitor and outer slide guide on my xantia and cost lots from citroen.
Is this pressed into the caliper housing without damage to the new gaitor?
My gaitor split when i swiveld the caliper up for the very first time (to replace a cracked anti-rattle plate). Have i just been unlucky!.

You can't get the gaitors on their own but you can get a repair kit which includes the gaitors and slider for £25ish, very model/year dependant though as there are quite a few different brake sizes fitted to Xantias.

Stempy, thanks for info.I had a try at repairing split in gaiter by overlaying with cycle innertube repair patch strip. It did not stick too well and now have a small tiewrap holding the patch on to keep dirt out of the slide pin. All this to cure a rattle, but did get anti-rattle clips and pad retaining pins kit for under £7 from local motorfactors.
