106 CV joint costs

Post by gradeafailure »

hi, firstly let me say thanks for previous help on diagnosing cooling system issues - much appreciated!
anyway, just a quickie - any ideas how much replacing the cv joint on a '93 1.1 106 should cost? my sister's car goes into the garage tomorrow (we know that it needs to be done) but don't want to be taken to the cleaners!
cheers for any advice guys!

Probably they'll replace the driveshaft rather than the C/v joint. It shouldn't cost more than £60 plus a couple of hours at local labour charge.

I have used the bargain ones from GSF at 38 quid +vat for the complete shaft! almost cheaper than buying a joint separately (incidently you can't change the joints on the their own). Easy job to fit aswell, as I dont have an ARB or an intermediate bearing to mess about with!

Not entirely on-topic but,
Has anyone had the steel bands on the CV joint boot covers fail? Both sides failed within weeks of each other on my 106 1.5D. Cable-ties to the rescue!
