Where should this LHM pipe go....?

On my xantia, was just cleaning around where you put the LHM in and noticed that the small rubber pipe which comes out of the end of the LHM filler cap is not connected to anything! Firstly what should it be connected to? Secondly, what are the implications of it not being connected to anything!!!

It's just an air vent pipe.
Just push the end of the pipe behind the tank.

As Bernie said,its just a vent/overflow pipe.It just hangs down beside the LHM tank.
