Bleeding Xantia fuel system

Post by Jshodgson »

Today I've changed my fuel filter and used the Haynes manual to help me. When I got to the bit where I need to bleed the fuel system all was well until I needed to "loosen the bleed screw located in the injection pump inlet pipe union bolt" this I couldn't find.
I pumped the fuel without doing this and the car works fine. Should I go back and do this and if so where is the bleed screw?
Thanks.

As far as I know, after you've replaced the filter all you have to do is pump the prime bulb to bleed / prime the fuel system.

Maybe there isn't a bleed screw there. If the car starts in the morning without stuttering, all the air has been bled. Job done!

Hi, once you have replaced the fuel filter, all you need to do is squeeze and pump the rubber 'bulb' on the inlet fuel pipe, on the left inner wing.
The fuel system is self venting once you have pumped the bulb and you can feel resistance. There isn't a venting bolt on the pumps.
