Xantia pressure regulator.

Post by adzbaby »

Will the hydraulic pressure regulator unit from a 95 m reg 1.9TD LX fit a 96 n reg?
Someone is after one, I have one spare for sale and we needed to find out whether they would be compatible.

Think they are all the same - have a look at the on-line shop and see if there are any variants.

Just checked on GSF, states that the Hydraulic press reg they stock fits:
XANTIA 1.6/1.8/2.0/D/TD >RP 6894 PN n43443.
Looks as though they might be compatible (although 1.9 is not mentioned). Any more light shedding about?

Any difference between the PR on an LX and a VSX?

I think there are only two types of PR, one that comes in combination with flow-distributor valve (Xantia without anti sink, BX with PAS and XM without anti sink), and other for everything else.

The FDV is a valve only fitted to BX (CX??) and early Xantias with power steering. It is an entirely separate component usually sited near the regulator and precedes it in the circuit. Its only function is to provide a small flow to the steering pinion control valve. When the steering wheel is turned, the pinion valve shuts, the flow ceases and this is communicated to the FDV which then diverts most of the pump output to the steering.
The FDV was discontinued on Xantias when the 6 + 2 pump was introduced. With this pump 6 cylinders feed the PAS and 2 feed the brakes and suspension - so the FDV becomes redundant. Xantias with this pump have 'anti-sink.
There is another variation - which is the slightly different regulator for the BX without PAS. I think the only difference here is an additional blanking plug on the non-PAS verion.
