saxo remote plip needs replacing

Unread post by fiff »

Hi,
http://i12.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/a8/1e/a1_1.JPG
Ive got a 98 saxo (single button plip with no key ) I got 1 plip with the car but the rubber button is badly worn and almost unusable (works about 1% of the time but does work if pressed enough different ways!) I've looked on ebay and I can see exactly the same single button plips and they seem to be goin for around £20. What im wondering is - will I be able to buy just the plip case from citroen? and if so does anyone know the part number for this? and how much this costs?
I'm also goin to buy a plip from ebay so I have 2 working plips. Does the method I have seen on this site for reprogramming the xantia plip work with the single button saxo plip? or will I have to pay the £30 odd to get citroen to do it.
Also can Citroen reprogram a plip from a 106 to a saxo as the single button plip case is exactly the same.
all info appreciated!
cheers
kenny

i dont think the IR plips on saxos can be coded to other cars even by citroen, when you order a plip they come pre coded,it is ordered by the number (5 digits i think) on the white sticker on the back of the plip circut board & also on the recever.alternatively you can buy a complete pilp & recever set although it is quite expensive.

I thought the puegoet 106 single button plip was the same as the saxo one?
Im goin to phone up citroen and see if they can supply the outer casing for the plip.
Also the batteries are now dead, the batteries dont have to be replaced pretty much striaght away tho do they?

the plips are the same but i dont think you can code one from another car wether it be a saxo or 106 into a new one without having the matching recever.
