heres some info for the 1.9d/td engines about the tacho
mines been dead for ages so heres the best info yet how to check things
the pickup lives just next to the drive shaft and terminates norm in a grey plug.
unplug it and measure the red and white wires u should get a reading of anywhere tween 60ohms and 150ohms if you get that its the head unit gone.
if its way outside the readings go to scrappy find any cit/pug engine and have a look at the top of bellhousing thats where they sit on a lot of them unplug it and measure.
now heres the best bit NO crawling under car plug beastie in and have a look at your bellhousing middle top you'll see a hole just wrap a bit tape round the pickup and with the engine running slowly push it in untill it stops itll rattle as it hits the flywheel pull it back a touch and magic tachos working. drop a couple of drops superglue onto it and its locked in place
