project TZI part 3.

Post by tomsheppard »

The white car is beginning to shake down following
a new set of HT leads and a tightened generator belt this week.
All it needed was exercise. Yesterday, the idle jumped 200 rpm
and became insistent rather than hesitant. I turned it down.
Car now idles smoothly. 300 miles so far this week and I'm getting used to smooth performance. Back to Grolliffe next week. I'm sure that it will convince me that it needs more money throwing at it!

Is your TZI the very smart J plate estate I saw parked up in a side road during a trip to Borehamwood last week?
If so, it was very nice! A J reg 1.6 Metior hatch was parked up at the BBC Elstree studios as well.
Glad to see they are not (quite) all dead!

Rare sighting!
My TZI has only been in Borehamwood this week. J278 EGT.
There is a (fair) white TZS that parks in the same bay in the early evening.
Normally, there's my tidy red TZD there. K45 XRP.

I'm beginning to get a few pangs.
I bet you wish you left the air con in now.
Just keep your eyes open for a RED TZI Estate.
Maybe next Year.
Any more tatty wheel trims left ??-- Jig works well on 16v wheels.
Well done.

No, Peter, this one is going to France. I'm considering finding another a/c plant for it but not too seriously.
Red TZI estate, do you want one? Sixteen valver maybe...
Funnily enough, I lost a wheeltrim last week; You've not been going nocturnal again, have you? I think I have a spare but it will be a couple of weeks before I'm back out of rehab.
(I'm to be cured with red wine and good bread and cheese before a roaring log fire. Can't say I'm looking forward to it but maybe it won't be so bad...)

I would possibly change the reg number before you take TZI to France. Might be a question of unpaid speeding tickets from last visit. Steer clear of Dieppe.LOL.
You've guessed it -- Red 16v estate with rear body kit.
Already collecting parts. Just waiting for a Red one to turn up.
Keep you eyes open.
Waiting for alloys to be fitted before I call.
If you need to bead blast yours let me know.
Trying to achieve a slightly better polished appearance. Any suggestions. Using a fine glass bead, general appearance is around satin.. Tried buffing -- finish is much better but previous scuff lines show through. Some are quite heavy so machining outer edges could be a problem.
If your of to France -- are the std 12v aux plugs for the centre consol still available ??

Try a boat chandler for the plug for the centre console. I was in a large one near Southampton having a nose around looking for instruement pods and saw them for sale there. Interestingly I have an electrolux camping fridge and it has a dual plug which fits this socket and also a (not Citroen) lighter socket.

Jeremy, would that be Aladdin's Cave?
Peter, Solvol Autosol would be the best, followed up with Brasso on a wheel then lacquer.
BTW, My TZD will be parked in its usual home but is now fitted with £40 worth of satellite tracking system so i can find it if it should get lost. You'll need to find another one!

I never turn down help.
Carelles, 22-30 November. (Michelin p56 C1) It isn't the Ritz but it is close to a nice bar/restaurant and there's a load of logs that just have to be burnt before I can turn the workshop into a 4 car garage. 2 spare beds.
you have my Email address if you have time on your hands.
