BX turbo diesel water pump

I have been quoted £300 to replace this unit! Surely this is far too much. How hard can it be!
Comments? Anywhere in Reading that can be recommended?

GSF want £15.50 for a pump, and £8.95 for a timing belt. 2 hours to fit, £50. Allowing for the garage putting 50% on the bits for profit and VAT, £117ish. At £300 they either don't want the job and priced it to the moon, but if they get it they will make a killing.

Having just done a water pump and cambelt change on 1.7 TD I'd say 2 hours was a bit optimistic[:(]

The Citroen garage that did mine - cam belt, tensioner, water pump - charged me for 4.5 hours. It sure looks like a pig of a job to me due to access and lack of space to see what one is doing.

Just for interests sake;
Average hourly rate for a garage in N.Z. is about $60 per hour - about 18 pounds per hour. Slightly more at dealership service centres.
Average annual wage in N.Z. is about $40,000 - about 12,500 pounds.
After tax in N.Z. on $40,000 per year one would earn about $550 per week.
