boot lock

Post by Jez »

I am currently getting grief from my wife as the boot lock on her ZX has become loose and will not lock and she is currently driving around with some string around the windscreen wiper and tow bar to keep the thing down. On close inspection the lock is very loose and seems like the screws have eroded away. Difficult to explain but I'm not sure that a new lock would be of any use as it also seems that the holes where the screws go may of lost their thread. Just wondered if anyone else has any ideas or had this problem?

Silly question but no chance of going up a size on the thread? or you could use an old style imperial thread like BSF. Nice and fine and only a few thou up. If memory serves me well the catch is held in place by two 6mm bolts (read hex head screw) and the actual lock is held in with a large flat retaining spring catch. You sould be able to get some large 'self tappers' to go in the holes.
