xantia rear seats

Hi,
Please can somebody help.
My mother has just bought a xantia estate and is having trouble folding the rear seats flat.
The horizonal seat section is only only moving through 30 degrees.
Is there a catch she needs to pull/push to allow this to fold fully forwards?

You lift the front of the squab (flat section) and it will pop forward slightly then lift it at the back so it sits against the front seats.
Then drop the seat back down flat.
I have to move the front seats forward to get the back down, not sure if it is the same on cars without leather.
