I'm only speculating, but http://www.dieselchiptuning.com/catalog/q2.php says that
"Too high an injection quantity in certain sub ranges (heavy acceleration) leading to increased fuel consumption and smoke emission and then to thermal engine damage."
Of course, the site is all to sell their range of boxes.
