bounce test of citroen xantia 1994

Hydropneumatic suspension Citroens should feel pretty much like a standard car when you test the suspension like this :
Engine idle, suspension in normal height (handbrakes on).
Now jerk down each corner of the car by applying your weight. It should be easy to press down at least approx 1-2" front - and approx 2-3" rear.
Do not bounce - simply press down and let go.
If the suspension feels soft, then the spheres are ok.
That's really all you can test on the suspension, as the problem is that the spheres looses pressure over time, and then suspension gets hard.
There is no sense in testing for damping (shocker) effect, as this would never be a single problem - it's always the sphere gas pressure.
Now time the tick interval between each distinct tick(click) sound emitted from the system's pressure regulator (appears as emitted from the pump). The time interval should be at least 30 seconds. If down to some 10-20 seconds, you most likely have an empty accumulator sphere (the one on engine).
Spheres are approx £20 ea from GSF - and fairly easy to replace DIY.
