heater blower

I have a 1997 xantia with air conditioning. When I got the car the blower motor had been isolated and ran off its own on/off switch. This is because the motor speed control was u/s. I've now replaced the speed control and need to wire the blower up to the original wiring. Problem is that I'm not sure which wire goes where. The motor has a set of 2 (1 red / 1 black) heavy wires and two other brown wires. The original connectors have been altered. Does anyone have any idea what goes where? My haynes only has wiring for the standard heater and blower not the air con one.
