peug 106 strange water fall noise

I was sat in my girlfriends 106 when she started the car had a strange water noise from around the matrix area that sounded like water flowing simular to a waterfall.
Any ideas? Could it be air in the system?
There is sometimes a strange noise when starting from around the pully area too, which goes away once you rev the engine a few times. The belt is tight and on a quick look couldn't see any leaks. The car has only done 35K

Almost certainly an airlock in the heater core. Get this sorted ASAP as this can lead to localised overheating.
