Laguna Problems

Hi all, Just moved over to Renault from Citroen,was Xantia now Laguna
got a few problems to sort out, (1) the car drifts towards the kerb side,their is also a little bit of steering wheel wobble and i have noticed that the drivers side front tyre is worn on the outside edge and when moving slowly you can hear tyre noise from that tyre,does this all add up to tracking or could it be something more major? (2) the spare wheel recess is collecting rain water,can anyone give me a head start as to where to look for the leek? (3) the fuel needle sometimes goes a bit erratic, any ideas?

I had the same problem with the spare wheel recess, I tracked down the leak to two possible places. the first was Throught the Gutter run off as there is a pipe running down inside your back rear pillar. And the second seemed to be through the light cluster as the rear brake light used to fill with water and slowly run back and down inside.
I would also watch the rear door seals as they often leak flooding your rear footwells.

if the front tyre is scrubbed off then it sounds like the wheel alignment-tracking is out if its badly worn change the tyre before having the tracking checked low tyre pressure can also cause tyres to scrubb off

I went the other way - 96 RT sport to Xantia HDi.
Tracking, fairly easily put out on the Ren if you kerb the wheel, get it Laser tracked (had mine done twice using the drive over types - carp and no joy - had it laser tracked, and ok thereafter....
Boot leak sometimes just a dodgey door (tailgate) seal but check also the window wiper seal (had problems with mine) - it also used to leak through the rear passenger door seal too and drivers door seal (cured by removing seal and refitting over the top of some split oxygen bubble tubing from the hospital (made the door seal stand proud)
One way of tracking a leak if you dont fancy getting in the boot whilst an obliging partner hoses the car over is to dry the boot, cover with a fine dusting of talcum powder then hose car down and look for water track marks afterwards (messy but effective)
Finally, you could do what i did with a Rover 213 - drill a hole to let the water out!!!![;)]
Fuel guage either a ropey sender unit or ropey voltage regulator... If i were you i would probably forget it![xx(]
Heater matrix and gear box ok???[}:)]

Thanks for all that,got a slight leak into rear footwell,what was it you used to fix,can i get it if not what else would do.
Have already drill holes in spare wheel tray,not a cure but at least it should be dry ish,fuel neadle ok above half full so will live with that,heater ok but temp gauge takes a long time to do anything,has never gone over the first mark,gearbox ok,gear change sometimes a bit notchy when cold. what problem did you have?

My Laguna used to leak into the sparewheel well and rear footwells, I eventually tracked it down to a tiny crack on the corner of the body behind the bumper. Spray some water into the gap between bumper and body beneath the rear lights, that's where mine came in. Had to take off the bumper to fix it but was a quick job once the leak was discovered.
