Exhaust clamp bolts

Post by Doc »

Where can I get new exhaust clamp bolts for 2.1 TD XM. I have just removed the engine after spending blood sweat and tears cutting two, very rusty (and rounded off)flex-joint clamp bolts.
I have looked on GSF but can't find them listed, or are they listed under a different name?
Thanks in advance

Doc -
If these bolts are part of the bits for a complete exhaust set, then you need (and better buy) an exhaust mounting kit, which holds all bits you need to fit a new exhaust - at any exhaust specialist. My guess approx £10 a set, and then no more worries !
Call your local GSF to check if they stock such a set. Important : be sure you get exactly for your model/variant & buildyear.
Might be possible to get only the bits you need at Citroen, but more than likely cost you the same or even more.
Note that you dont actually pay for these small individual bits (few pence each), but in fact for the service stocking & handing them over to you.
It's not possible to stock all kinds of small bits & bobs, as it would take prohibitive huge manpower to administer a stock holding such.

Do you mean the spring-clamp bolts- manifold to downpipe?
If so, just try your local hardware shop!

Thanks gents!
Yes, the parts in question are for the ball and socket-like main flange. As I don't like the idea of doing this job again, I may use stainless steel fixings from any boat chandlery specialist.

Yes, I had to take Mr Angle Grinder to mine ! However, I found that good allen head bolts with old valve springs and a few large washers made excellent replacements.

I always use Copperslip when re-fitting these, makes a huge difference later.
The bolts are certainly available at all Citroen and Peugeot dealers.

Not a bad idea to weld a short radial bit of bar to the bolt heads, so it stops the bolt turning while you tighten the nut
